As an organisation that is so richly steeped in sporting achievement, what do we actually mean by education? How does it link in with what we do?

Sport is a remarkable tool; it levels the playing field and gives all a sense of achievement, but it also presents us in Maccabi with the opportunity to present those participating with another avenue to identify together as Jews.

It affords us the opportunity of re-establishing our roots; of discovering our heritage, of understanding the need for tolerance and acceptance of those who chose to have different opinions and beliefs. It educates us in so many different ways.

It teaches us about fair play, about team work, about patience and understanding. It also teaches us about the importance of participation and attitude, of the desire to succeed, but also of the need to encourage those who do not.

Our Education Department is working closely with our colleagues at the MWU education department and our Sports department to ensure that we provide a stimulating and challenging agenda that encourage our T.O.’s to sign up and participate.
