The worldwide Maccabi Movement currently involves 400,000+ active Jewish members of all ages in organized sports, cultural, educational and social activity in more than 400 Jewish Communities in more then 50 countries.

Maccabi activities, country by country, are organized in locally-registered and constitutionally-based NPO’s termed Maccabi Territorial Organizations (T.O.’s) grouped in 6 Confederations (North America; Latin America; Europe; Australasia/Pacific; Africa; Israel).

In continuous existence since 1895 and headquartered at Kfar Maccabiah (“The Maccabiah Village”) since 1956, MWU is established as an NPO according to a legally-registered constitution, directed by an elected World Executive and Secretariat and other constitutionally-based institutions, assisted by a staff corps of qualified professionals through open and constant consultation and continuous contact with elected leadership at all levels.

Movement activities have two principal aims: maintaining the continuity of Jewish life and the centrality of Israel in modern Jewish life, inclusive messages which address and engage the widest socio-cultural denominators and aspirations of Jews everywhere.

Moreover, the Maccabi Movement is uniquely synonymous in the Jewish world with its signature activity - Jewish sports and active leisure - and in an increasingly health and fitness-conscious age, the “Maccabi” brand affords instant and worldwide recognition in virtually all organized Jewish Communities and in the wider Jewish cultural/religious identity.

Grass-roots democratic to a degree rarely equaled by any other organization, Maccabi everywhere floats on an ocean of enthusiastic Jewish volunteerism and community involvement.
